To acclimatise for Mt. Cotopaxi we went for a hike up Ruminawi (at 4800 metres high, it’s just a hill by Ecuadorean standards). When we arrived back in camp we discovered a fox had stolen our chicken, so for the rest of the trip our rations were confined to tinned tuna and pasta. At night Maureen felt something nibbling her hair and thought the fox had come back for dessert, however it turned out to just be a rat.
