The Atacama cemetery is surreal and disturbing at the same time. This cemetery houses the remains of 19th century saltpetre miners. Though it has been sadly vandalised and picked over, erosion is continuously uncovering more or less intact bodies desiccated by the extreme aridness. Particularly chilling was a miniature chapel with a shrivelled baby inside.
