On
our way down to Southern Argentina we stopped off in the Cueva de los
Manos (Cave of the Hands). The Cueva de las Manos, Río Pinturas,
contains stencilled outlines of human hands in the cave and depictions
of animals such as guanacos executed between 13,000 and 9,500 years ago
by the ancestors of the historic hunter-gatherer communities of Patagonia.
